The Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges' Strong Kids Campaign helps children and families address two of their biggest challenges: our Nation’s Economic Crisis and the Growing Obesity Epidemic. We remain committed to our promise: “no one is turned away because of their inability to pay.”

YMCA Financial Assistance Fund: The nation’s economic crisis has hit many of our families close to home. These families are facing job losses, home foreclosures, and climbing living costs, which make it increasingly difficult to make ends meet.

Our YMCA is there to help! By providing financial assistance to these families, we help their children continue to enjoy and to benefit from the great programs they love. In addition, we help their parents to get back on their feet, without having to worry if their children are being properly supervised.

YMCA Activate America: Over the past 20 years, the Nation’s obesity rate has continued to skyrocket and has become the single greatest health care epidemic of our generation. The implications of this epidemic are widespread from rising health care costs, to children who will not live longer than their parents for the first time
in our Nation’s history.

Our YMCA is there to help! Through Activate America, the YMCA is leading the effort to tackle this epidemic once and for all. We are creating new programs such as Wellness Coaching, Pioneering Healthier Communities, Ready to Swim, and C.A.T.C.H. (Coordinated Approach To Child Health) to help adults and children become more active. The YMCA’s Community Healthy Living Index will help all types of organizations assess how they can improve the health of their constituents.

Our Strong Kids Campaign is a beacon of hope to the children and families who receive financial assistance at
the very moment when they need our programs the most. Over 300 volunteers and 2,200 donors make this important mission possible. Through their efforts, we enhance our mission, serve our community’s less fortunate, and educate the community-at-large about how special the YMCA truly is!

Thanks to the generosity of donors to our Strong Kids Campaign, our YMCA was able to provide over $1,000,000
