Our Teen Center, which opened in October 2004, is an After School Program designed just for teenagers ages 11 to 15 years old. The activities include arts & crafts, computers, games, homework help, music, trips, special events and guest speakers. There is an annual membership/registration fee of $100 and a monthly program fee of $150. Teen Nights are designed to give teens an opportunity to socialize with their peers in a safe and structured environment. Teens participate in swimming, computers and other recreational activities. The Gang Awareness Prevention Program (GAPP) is hosted by the New Jersey Department of Corrections. It consists of a series of workshops, at the East Orange Y, to discuss gang issues with community youths. These workshops are free. The Historically Black Colleges and Universities Tour is an annual trip for high school students in the 9 - 12 grades to explore higher learning. Click HERE for the 2012 HBCU College Tour page. The Minority Achievers Program focuses on helping youth develop life coping skills. Educational programs are conducted with adult mentors becoming activity involved as role models. Mentors volunteer their time to assist young people in reaching their goals. Click HERE for photos from our annual Minority Achievers Banquet.
