WELCOME TO THE EAST ORANGE YMCA AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM!

 

 

The East Orange YMCA Enrichment After-school Program provides assistance to working parents who are looking for a safe, fun, high quality program for their children.  Our Enrichment Program has well-trained staff that are focused on meeting the needs of each individual participants, committed to serving as excellent role models for the community and will help to establish an atmosphere where parents can be secure and confident about the place their child grows.  The program is fully licensed by the State of New Jersey’s Department of Children and Families.  We are also accredited by School Age Child Care Association (SACC) since 2006.

 

Registration is ongoing in person at the East Orange YMCA-Main Building located at 100 North Arlington Avenue from the hours of 7:30am – 5:30pm.  Parents must complete the entire registration process in order for their child to begin the program. 

The documents needed are listed below:  
Completed and signed application     

Completed meal application      

Completed physical and immunization record      

A clear photo of the child attending the program  

Please call 973-673-5588 for complete details about our monthly fees, and our registration and membership fees.  The East Orange YMCA Enrichment After-school Program accepts payments from many government assistance agencies (Program for Parents, DYFS, Family Friendly).  We also provide financial assistance for those who qualify.  

Children are transported from the majority of all public schools in the East Orange School District.  Transportation is provided by a leased transportation company, Kevah Konner.  The buses are state inspected and equipped with seat belts and 2 YMCA staff members on each bus. We also pick up children for early dismissals.  

The East Orange YMCA After-School Enrichment Program currently services children at the following sites: 

  • Turrell’s Gymnasium at 159 North Munn Ave. (ages 5-13 years old)
  • Althea Gibson Early Childhood Academy  490 Williams St. (ages 3-4 years old)
  • Edward T. Bowser School of Excellence at 180 Lincoln St (ages 3-10 years old)
  • Mildred Barry Garvin (Family Friendly) at 98 Greenwood Ave. (ages 5-10 years old)
  • Whitney Houston Academy (NJ After 3) at 215 Dodd St. (ages 5-13 years old)**

 Operating hours are Monday – Friday from 3:00-7:00pm.  **Whitney Houston Academy hours of operation are Monday-Friday 2:30-5:30pm.

Field Trips


 Vacation Fun Camp is available when the East Orange School District is closed at a rate of $35 per day.  A registration form is required for all children attending.
