THE EAST ORANGE YMCA is accredited by the American Camping Association, which means our facilities, equipment, safety, staff credentials and training are of the highest standards. THE EAST ORANGE YMCA continues the tradition by providing exciting and fun-filled summer camps for young people with a full range of educational and recreational activities for children between ages 3 and 15. Youngsters will participate in a traditional well-rounded camp program featuring sport activities and instruction, swimming, arts & crafts, computers and weekly field trips. THE STAFF is selected on the basis of ability, enthusiasm, and concern for helping young people develop. All staff members participate in pre-camp orientation and on-going training sessions.
PROGRAM FEATURES:
DAY CAMP GENERAL INFORMATION AND FEES: The three camp sessions are three weeks in length. Parents are responsible for arranging children's transportation to and from the YMCA. Youngsters who are not currently YMCA members are required to join. The youth registration fee is $50. Scholarships, based upon financial need, are available on a limited basis to eligible participants. Dates: June 20 - August 19 Session 1: June 20 - July 8 Session 2: July 11 - July 29 Session 3: August 1 - August 19 Regular Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm Extended Hours: 8:00am - 9:00am and 5:00pm - 6:00pm* *An additional fee of $40.00 will be charged for each session for either the morning or evening periods. For both periods, the fee will be $60.00. Camp Fee: $400.00 per session plus a one-time $50.00 registration fee (each session consists of 3-weeks)**
SPECIALTY CLINIC CAMPS GENERAL INFORMATION AND FEES - GYMNASTICS AND CHEERLEADING (Our apologies, but these clinics have been CANCELLED): Dates: August 22 - August 26 Regular Hours: Gymnastics 9:00am - 12:00 noon Cheerleading 1:00pm - 4:00pm Clinic Fee: $100.00 each clinic plus a one-time $50.00 registration fee** **We do accept Progams for Parents
DISCOVERY CAMP (ages 3 - 4)
This camp is for the young child with a big imagination, they will help your child gain valuable social skills and develop self-confidence through safe, fun and educational activities. This is an active camp that will keep your child busy all day while learning independent skills. The children will participate in story time, arts and crafts, sports, swimming, enrichment and field trips. All activities are age-appropriate, except for swim instruction, which is level-appropriate. Note: additional fees for some trips are required.
CAMP EXPLORER (ages 5 - 6) This camp has numerous activities and skill building exercises that focus campers on socialization and team work skills. Activities include: drama, arts and crafts, music, computers, sports, swimming, dance and field trips. Note: additional fees for some trips are required. CAMPERS ON THE MOVE (ages 7 - 8) Designed for the younger campers on the move! Each week of camp has a different theme which allows for a variety of new activities to expand the campers' areas of interest, add unity, excitement, challenge and nurture young minds and bodies. Indoor and outdoor activities include swimming, computers, arts and crafts and fun trips. All activities are age appropriate, but swim instruction is based on the individual's level of competency. Note: additional fees for some trips are required. ACTION CAMP (ages 9 - 10) PRE-TEEN ADVENTURE CAMP (ages 11 - 12) TEEN EMPOWERMENT CAMP (ages 13 - 15) These camps provide challenging, fun and character-building experiences. Action, Adventure and Empowerment campers will help plan their own activities, while learning leadership and life skills. In addition, the camp includes character building experiences, enrichment workshops, guest speakers, computers, organized sports and campers will go on adventurous field trips to places such as Cheesequake Park and the New Jersey Shore. Campers will be divided by ages for groups, but may interact for activities, such as team-building exercies, games, sports, crafts and swimming at least twice a week. Note: additional fees for some trips are required. SPECIALTY CLINICS (for girls ages 5 - 15) - (CANCELLED) GYMNASTICS CLINIC (CANCELLED) This mini clinic is perfect for the child who loves to flip around the house! Children will be grouped according to ability and learn skills on four Olympic events: balance beam, uneven bars, vault and floor. Children will also work on safety, conditioning workouts, dance and flexibility. This is a half day camp. CHEERLEADING CLINIC (CANCELLED) This mini clinic is for the child who has always wanted to be a cheerleader. They will learn proper cheerleading movements, tumbling, jumping, coordinate hand movements with chants and teamwork. All these skills will be displayed by the group when they perform routines learned throughout the week for their parents at the end of the week. This is a half day camp.
