It is the goal of the Administrative Staff at the EAST ORANGE YMCA to ensure excellent programs and services for children, families, adults and the residents of our community. In our efforts to serve as "excellent" providers, we strive to adhere to our "10 Points of Excellence," which are Commitment, Follow-Through, Communication, Accountability, Structure, Developmental Growth, Professionalism, Strong Competent Leadership, Vision and High Quality.
SHARON PARKER (Childcare Director)
My role at the East Orange YMCA is to ensure that the Preschool Program is running smoothly and the children are developing and having fun while they are in school.
I feel you have to be dedicated because I am responsible for so many tasks.
RHONDA SINGLETON (Program Director)
Q. Ms. Rhonda do you have any children? A. Yes! Over 100 (smile).
Youth Development - serve as a mentor. Healthy Living - leading by example and encouraging our youth to make healthy choices. Social Responsibility - encouraging students to respect one another and be supportive.
AND INTRODUCING OUR SUPPORTING CAST (We can't do it without them): We asked our Counselors, Teachers, Child Care Staff, etc... a few questions to get social. Here's some of our favorites....
KENNETH JAMES (Enrichment Counselor)
The first thing I do when I wake up is pray and the last thing I do before going to sleep is watch the news.
Matlock, Columbo, Different World, Sanford and Son and Martin.
INDIA WASHINGTON (Child Care Staff)
There is no work out/exercise facility.
Being a people person and a strong believer in responsibility because the parents like my work ethic.
JANNAH ALI (After-School Counselor)
I am a counselor for the After-School Program. When I'm greeted everyday by the kids with huge hugs and smiles it makes my job worthwhile.
Heels/shoes; jeans; drive; spring; candy; shade
MARKIL HOWARD (After-School Counselor)
When a child tried to use a punchline on another child and he said "How many letters are in the alphabet?" The other child answered "26." The jokester said "no, 21 minus U R A Q T!" That was funny to hear.
The first thing I do when I wake up and the last thing I do is pray!
